It is easy to make your own 3D road sign image, no need to buy a stock image, and you get the 3D text perfectly aligned. Click the image for a larger picture (with the settings in the “format shape” box).

This is cool but how do we use this? Where did this come from? Thanks!

@Tobias, yes they look similar.

Great tip! I just tried it and was able to create one of the signs in just seconds. One thing I didn't see in the screen shot was the need to bevel the edges. Let me know if you created the depth of the sign in some other way, but that's the only way I could figure.

@Anonymous, PPT is the only software I use actively. All my clients are on it, so it makes editing files easier. I hope you can translate the suggestions to other software such as Keynote. Sorry.

Can this be done in PowerPoint 2003?
Jan Schultink2009-06-10 19:44:30
@Anonymous. No unfortunately not. But sticking to a 2D version with signs pointing left and right also gives a nice slide.

@John, I use this type of slide to show an abundance of possible decisions.

You're assuming that we're using PPT

@Jon

There is not bevel on the signs. In the 3-D format tab (not the 3-D rotation one), you can set the "depth" to something like 15 pts

Also set the weight of the line in "line style" to something like 6 pts

The pole was spiced up with a small bevel.

Hi Jan,

Great tip for doing 3d generally in powerpoint.

Kinda laughed when I saw how much yours looked like ours:
