I need to host an international web-based PowerPoint presentation and I searched around to find Dimdim.

Sounds great. Does anyone have experience with this tool, or alternatives? In any case I will report back.

Hi jan
Once again to clarify that there is no need of any plugin if you want to give a power point presentation. You can share ppt, pdf, pptx without plugin in Dimdim version 4.5 .
In case you want to share your desktop, you need to install the plugin.
Any other questions related to Dimdim ?

Hi Jan
The latest dimdim version is 4.5 .
There is no need to install any plugin for ppt,pdf and pptx. If you do desktop share then only it is required.
Any more questions ?

Works fine, but the host must install a plug-in and may need administrative rights to do so.

The last time I tried to use it on an university lab computer I failed because the security policy forbid software installation.

If you host the conference in your own computer, then there will be no problem. Check here:

I've used it twice in desktop sharing mode. It's a little laggy that way. But if you upload a PowerPoint presentation, it works well. Because I'm using doing PowerPoint training, I want to go into Normal view, which requires desktop sharing. I still think that it's a good tool and will use it again in the future, I'm sure.
